It felt like hours passed by while she waited for him to reopen the door. Of course, somewhere in the back of her curly head, Elsa knew that it was a bad idea to come here — but Jimmy was the only solution to her problem she could think of. As his head finally appeared in the door frame, the blonde took a deep breath, silently preparing another little speech, but she got interrupted quickly.

Gratefully, she grabbed the offered towel and began to delicately dry her face and neckline. “I should, you’re absolutely right, Jimmy, thank you,” she began as she looked around the hallway. This was the place he and the twins called home? Then, the diva glanced at the bottle in the young man’s hand and eventually at him. Her mind, as well as her voice, was shaking slightly. “I’m having some troubles and I — can’t go back home at the moment.” There was no home for her, not anymore … “Do you think that I can stay the night?”

“Yep. No problem.” he says, looking at her as she dries herself off. “Troubles in Hollywood? Ya don’t say? Well Els, ain’t the glamorous place ya thought it was gonna be, huh?” he asks, a sly smirk on his lips as he drinks from the bottle. “And then ya got the nerve to come into my house and ask for a place to crash. Oh Gee!” he laughs aloud.

“You killed my mother, Elsa. You can deny it all you want. Forever and ever. But I know you did. You sold the show to Dandy Mott, too. What happened to keepin’ it in the family? Huh? Y’know what happened? He killed off everybody. Except for me, Desiree, and the twins. Everyone else is dead, Elsa.” he says, shaking his head, before gesturing to the couch. “Make yourself at home. But the armchair is my seat. We don’t got no fancy butlers an’ sit ‘round here. What you want, you gotta grab. No buts ‘bout it.” he says. “Won’t the twins be surprised when, and if, they come home.”

The German lady decided to ignore the comments about her beloved Ethel’s death, because she knew that this conversation would definitely turn into a fight – no matter what she said. If she denied it, Jimmy would get even angrier and probably kick her out, and Elsa could understand it. And if she admitted, well, he would freak out as well. So, the blonde followed him with dizzy steps into the living room to make her body sit down on the couch in front of Jimmy’s armchair. “Trouble in Hollywood, yes, if you want to call it like that. I’ll fix them, I just – can’t do it right now. I can’t, okay?”

Rubbing her forehead slightly, Elsa wrapped the towel around her shoulders, her blurry gaze meeting his. Why did she have to drink so much tonight? The next words were hard to say out loud. “Thank you for letting me stay here.” She took a deep breath and paused for a moment to let his words reach her brain. A picture of Bette and Dot appeared in her head, and with it, the last minutes she had spent at the Freak Show. When they literally saved her life. “Where are the twins? Are they alright?”
