You’re very right, Sam. More people should think the way you do.” Nodding her head once again, her hazel eyes followed his movements around the area, which let another small smile appear on her face. “I’ve always thought that death is a huge nothing. You’re surrounded by — darkness. But this place is so much better than I imagined. Have you been here for a long time?”

“We can only hope,” he replied somewhat wistfully. If more people had been welcoming he knew that his life, for one, would have been much different, but that didn’t matter much. He did his part now, and that’s what was important now. “I think death depends on whose death it is,” he replied, tapping his chin thoughtfully. “But I’m no expert. I’ve been here eight years today actually…you don’t recognize me, but you have heard of me.”

And you’re doing a good job, welcoming people like me,” she reassured softly as she watched Sam. His thoughtful gesture made her smile once again. How cruel must have been the world to him? He seemed to have such a pure heart. “I have heard of you? Well, no offense, but I don’t think so. I don’t know a Sam or a Twisty. Have we met before?”
